Youth United Build
The Youth United program builds an annual house sponsored by youth ages 5-25 and built by youth ages 16-25. We encourage a diverse group of youth organizations to participate.
What is expected of the youth groups?
- Together youth groups will help to raise the cost of a Pikes Peak Habitat house sponsorship of $60,000.
- Volunteer opportunities will be provided for each youth group.
- Each youth group will provide an adult facilitator and two youth representatives to attend Steering Committee meetings and act as the liaison between Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity and the youth group.
- Together Youth United and Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity will develop a city wide awareness event.
What is expected of Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity?
- Select a qualified family committed to partnering with the program.
- Provide land, architecture plans, construction supervisor and materials.
- Assist with volunteer coordination and fundraising efforts when requested.
- Clearly communicate expectations to all partners.
Where will the Youth United Build take place?
Woodmen Vistas, our newest and largest development to date—37 homes near Woodmen and Powers.
How is the homeowner chosen?
Habitat has a fair and unbiased family selection process and chooses families based on
three criteria:
- A need for affordable housing
- The ability to pay their no-interest mortgage
- The willingness to partner with Habitat
Why should my youth organization participate in a Youth United program?
- Youth get an opportunity to take on leadership roles.
- Youth organizations have an opportunity to exchange thoughts and ideas with a diverse group of people from different organizations, faiths, ages and backgrounds.
- Youth can help their peers as it provides meaningful roles for homeowner youth.
- This activity makes a difference not only in the lives of the homeowner partners, but in the lives of donors and volunteers.
