Woodmen Vistas

2008 marked the beginning of Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity’s most exciting and largest builds to date. On May 31st, 2008 we turned the first shovel of dirt on the Woodmen Vistas development near the intersection of Woodmen and Powers.

Pike Peak Habitat, with the help of the Colorado Springs community, will develop the Woodmen Vistas neighborhood. People from across the city will join together to help hard-working, low-income families achieve home ownership, stability, and community.

Because of these efforts, 36 families will leave poverty housing and come home to empowerment, self-sufficiency, and pride. Habitat families will turn the keys on their new home, knowing that they will now have the means to provide for their children the life they have always dreamed of.

Here Are Six Things You Should Know About Woodmen Vistas:

1 Each home will be completed in approximately six months.

2 Seven to ten homes will be built each year.

3 It will cost approximately $105,000 to develop the land and build each home.

4 The number of children that will live in these homes is enough to fill five classrooms.

5 Habitat will rely on approximately 125,000 community volunteers who donate 515,000 hours to complete this project.
